Mission at Casa Juan Diego, a migrant shelter.
We give thanks to Caridades Cabrini, a group dedicated to delivering food once a month to migrants in need at Casa Juan Diego, located on Rose Street in downtown Houston. The Respect for Life Ministry had the opportunity to coordinate, visit, and prepare the food during the month of November. Also, thanks to financial donations from the community, we delivered newborn baby clothes and bottled water for those currently staying at the shelter. Our experience with them (at the women's house where we were granted access) was very enriching, as we had the opportunity to spend time with and talk to some of them about their struggles, their difficulties, and their challenging situation in this country. Through these activities, we strive to raise awareness within our St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church community about the importance of respecting human dignity from conception to natural death, and that we are all of equal worth regardless of our immigration status. We thank God for the opportunity to serve and to raise awareness among our families about the importance of life, family, and doing all the good we can. Long live life! |
Misión en la casa Juan Diego, casa del migrante
Damos gracias a Caridades Cabrini, un grupo dedicado a llevar alimentos una vez al mes a los migrantes en necesidad de la Casa Juan Diego ubicada en la calle Rose del centro de Houston. El Ministerio de Respeto por la Vida tuvo la oportunidad de ocuparse de la coordinación, la visita, y la preparación de los alimentos en el mes de Noviembre. También, gracias a las donaciones económicas de la comunidad se llevo ropa de bebe de recién nacido y botellas de aguas para el consumo de los que se hospedan actualmente en la casa. Nuestra experiencia con ellas (en la casa de las mujeres donde se nos dio acceso) fue muy enriquecedora pues tuvimos la oportunidad de convivir y platicar con algunas de ellas, de sus luchas, sus dificultades y su dificil situacion en este pais). Con este tipo de actividades tratamos de concientizar a nuestra comunidad de St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church de que es muy importante el respeto de la Dignidad Humana desde la concepción hasta la muerte natural, y que todos valemos igual sin importar nuestro status migratorio. Damos gracias a Dios por la oportunidad de servir y de poder concientizar a nuestras familias de la importancia de la Vida, la Familia y de hacer todo el bien que podamos. Que Viva la Vida! |
